AWARE: Reflections on the Agency of Architecture

€50.00

We are almost always surrounded by architecture. We breathe life into spaces as we inhabit them. It is what we travel to and what we journey between. How aware are we of the effect architecture has on us?

AWARE: Reflections on the Agency of Architecture poses this question. The book is the closing chapter of 3XN GXN's major exhibition at the Danish Architecture Center, which opened in March and will run through September 2024. It presents the fundamental relations between bodies and spaces.

The book hosts a nuanced conversation about the agency of architecture in a changing world. We invited 14 practitioners across disciplines and generations to reflect on the exhibition's theme. Contributors include Yasmeen Lari, Olafur Eliasson, Sumayya Vally, and Rasmus Munk.

The exhibitions explore the agency of architecture through feelings of awe, thrill, curiosity, connection, respite, and care. The publication is structured around these six experiences that connect to the overall theme of agency. Under each word, two contributors are invited to reflect on how these keywords resonate with their praxis and thinking. The form has been open and consists of essays, interviews, conversations, and artistic contributions.
